Unusually, The Royal Mint has released the King Arthur coins to include NGC Graded coins.

Independently graded by NGC with a grading of Proof 70 (PROOF 70 Ultra Cameo), the highest score on the Sheldon coin grading scale.

There are also some that Graded PF69 (PROOF 69 Ultra Cameo).

Additionally, some signed by artist and illustrator David Lawrence, whose design portrays King Arthur brandishing his legendary sword Excalibur.

Other features include:

  • Features a special privy mark on the reverse in the form of a Celtic Trinity Knot
  • Sent to NGC and graded within 30 days of its release, this coin is designated as a First Release edition
  • Embellished with a frosted finish, the reverse of the coin has a hexurity feature in the background of the design, allowing the light to reflect in different angles
  • An exclusive product from The Royal Mint that features an official label guaranteeing its authenticity

One of the first commemorative UK coin collections to feature coins dated 2023 that display the official coinage portrait of His Majesty The King.

Illustrator David Lawrence’s skilful reverse design is embellished with a frosted finish, alongside a hexurity feature that allows the light to reflect in different angles.

The reverse design of the coin has the text around the edge “KING ARTHUR MYTHS AND LEGENDS . 2023”.

The D.L initials signify the designer, David Lawrence.
