Hogwarts Express 50p Coin
The fifty pence coin commemorates 25 years since the first publication of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Using an illustration from the original artist from the first publication, Jim Kay, this 50p is the second in a series of four, and features the very excellent Hogwarts Express, departing from Platform 9 and 3/4!

The Hogwarts Express coins will feature a portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse as is the case with the first coin in the set, the Harry Potter coin.

This 50p coin featuring the Hogwarts Express is the final one to feature Queen Elizabeth II’s portrait.
The Hogwarts Express coin is part of a more extensive collection celebrating the 25 years of Harry Potter and the final two coins have not yet been released, and feature the official portrait of King Charles III.

The third and fourth Harry Potter coins featuring Professor Dumbledore and Hogwarts School will feature the official coinage portrait of His Majesty The King and are due to be released in 2023.
