David Bowie
David Bowie was born on the UK in January 1947 and was officially named David Robert Jones. Known professionally as “David Bowie” he renamed himself after the 19th-century American pioneer James Bowie and the knife he had popularised as it “cuts both ways”.
Sadly, David Bowie died from liver cancer in New York on the 10th of January 2016 two days after his 69th birthday and the release of the album Blackstar.
A British singer-songwriter and actor. He was a leading figure in the music industry and is regarded as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century.
Bowie was a self-described “pop star” and glam rock legend.
During his fifty-year career, he was the creator of music genres and alter-egos (Ziggy Stardust), the opener of debates on sexuality and politics, and a highly intelligent entrepreneur, the artist more than deserves his place in the Hall of Fame.
