If you have just found the fifty Years of Pride 50p coin in your change, this webpage will tell you all you need to know about the circulating coin issued to mark the 50th anniversary of Pride.
This 50p coin was created in collaboration with Pride in London and designed by Dom Nik Holmes, an LGBT plus artist, writer, and activist.
The reverse design of the coin features five rainbows, each representing the key values of Pride in London – with inscriptions including Pride, Protest, Visibility, Unity, and Equality.
It also includes Chevron stripes at the very bottom of the design, which is inspired by the Progressive Pride flag.
Around five million of these coins were released into circulation on 25 October 2022 meaning the coin is common and you are quite likely to find one in your change.
It is the very last coin to enter circulation featuring Queen Elizabeth II on the Obverse, the HEADS since of the coin before the switch to King Charles III.

Is this a circulated coin?

The Royal Mint announced a change to the original plan for this to be not intended for circulation coin. On the 9th June 2022, they announced the plan for 5 million coins to be entered into general circulation later in the year, making it quite common to find this coin (the non-coloured version) in your change.
Is there an LGBTQ Coin?
Britain’s Royal Mint unveiled a special new commemorative rainbow-coloured 50 pence coin on Wednesday as a tribute to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Pride UK movement.
The coin, designed by east London artist and LGBTQ+ activist Dominique Holmes, uses state-of-the-art printing technology to emboss it with the colours of the Pride progress flag.
It humbles me greatly that the words that I coined for the brand – protest, visibility, unity, and equality – will be on an actual coin, opposite the queen
