The third coin in our Royal Tudor Beasts Collection continues with the Yale of Beaufort, a weird and wonderful creature that inspires awe in all who approach Hampton Court Palace.
Find out how the ancient traditions of coinage and heraldry have come together for a unique tribute to the Tudor king Henry VIII and one of the most influential dynasties in British history.
The Coin Design
The coins feature the fantastical Yale of Beaufort mystical beast.
The collection’s artist, David Lawrence, has captured the fierce beast in his reverse design which is perfect for anyone with interest in British royal history or heraldic art.
The coins are made in partnership with Historic Royal Palaces, the accompanying information packs explore the Yale of Beaufort and its importance to the Tudor dynasty.
Available in Gold and Silver Proof Coins, BUNC, and Bullion editions.
The Mystical Beast
With the body of a goat, tusks of a boar, and tail of a lion, the Yale of Beaufort is one of the most peculiar of the ten heraldic guardians chosen by Henry VIII to guard Hampton Court Palace.
Our new collection inspired by ancient heraldry continues with the Yale of Beaufort, a strong defender. Discover the tusked beast’s origins in folklore and its historic royal connections.
Portrayed as a strong defender, the Yale of Beaufort is one of The Queen’s Beasts. It has a crown collar, signifying royal ownership, and the chain around the tusked body demonstrates how the powerful creature has been tamed.
The Royal Tudor Beasts Collection
