Not only is the animated film marking 40 years since it first aired in 1982, but it is also the tenth anniversary of its much-loved sequel The Snowman\u2122 and The Snowdog. To celebrate, this year\u2019s festive UK 50p coin, the fifth to be released in our Snowman coin series, will feature The Snowdog for the first time.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s festive coin is also particularly poignant following the death of The Snowman\u2019s beloved creator, acclaimed author, and illustrator Raymond Briggs CBE in August.<\/p>\n
He was an inspiration to many, including award-winning illustrator and animator Robin Shaw<\/a>, who was assistant director on The Snowman and The Snowdog and who created this year\u2019s reverse design.<\/p>\nThe Snowman and The Snowdog 50p coin release<\/h2>\n
This coin is a limited edition release. The design is by Robin Show and features the snowman and his new friend, who becomes his best friend after they meet on Christmas Eve.<\/p>\n
