History of The Tower of London

The Tower of London was built in 1078, and one of the oldest historical buildings in the United Kingdom and is a huge tourist attraction for people from around the world.

Throughout the 1,000-year history, the Tower of London has served in multitude of roles, from a Royal Palace and fortress to a menagerie and arsenal.

The Tower of London even served as the site of The Royal Mint from 1279 until 1810, providing UK coins to the people of Britain for more than 500 years.
