New Release: 2026 Royal Mint Annual Sets
The current market value for the Owl 50p is estimated at £6.00. Values can vary based on condition and demand.
The 2021 UK Owl 50p coin, celebrating the 95th anniversary of Winnie the Pooh, was released by The Royal Mint on October 4, 2021. It was the second coin in the 2021 series and was not released into general circulation, available only as a Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) coin or in precious metal proofs.
The coin was sold in various packaging, including official Royal Mint packs.
The 2021 Owl UK 50p marked the beginning of the second year of the Royal Mint's Winnie the Pooh series. As the fourth coin in the overall collection, it features the Hundred Acre Wood’s most intellectual inhabitant, Owl, captured in a charming original E.H. Shepard illustration.
This release continued the tradition of featuring the "signature bee" motif, which flies across the reverse design, providing a unifying thread across all nine coins in the series.
While the Owl 50p is a cornerstone of the 2021 set, 2026 brings an entirely new way to celebrate with the 2026 Centenary 3-Coin Set. To see how Owl fits into the full timeline of releases, you can view the complete list on our Winnie the Pooh collection guide.
As with previous releases, the Owl 50p was issued in multiple finishes to cater to both gift-buyers and serious numismatists. These coins were issued as commemorative only and did not enter general circulation.
